Position Overview:  Provides primary support to Head Cook, assisting in preparation of meals and general operation of kitchen. 

 

 Essential Job Functions:

 

  1. Learn working knowledge of Head Cook position.
  2. Assist in daily preparation of meals.
  3. Insure proper catering to remote locations.
  4. Review and follow all standard operating procedures based on HACCP guidelines.
  5. Assist in serving of USDA meals.
  6. Assist in properly maintaining equipment.
  7. Carry out all tasks assigned by Head Cook.
  8. Assist in cleaning of kitchen, equipment, and serving areas.
  9. Assist in record keeping.
  10. Other duties as assigned

 Other Job Functions:

 

  1. Take over duties of Head Cook in their absence.

 Qualifications:

 Knowledge of:

  1. Food preparation in large quantities for public schools.
  2. Operation and maintenance of commercial food preparation equipment.
  3. HAACP sanitary guidelines.

 Ability to:

 

  1. Maintain good healthy relationship with students.
  2. Work harmoniously and tactfully with fellow employees.
  3. Maintain standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
  4. Maintain regular attendance.
  5. Present neat and clean appearance.
  6. Add, subtract and multiply accurately.

 Experience:

 

  1. Prior experience in quantity cooking and baking desired.

 License:

 

  1. Food Handler's Card
  2. Oregon Driver's License

 Physical Requirements:

 

In an eight-hour day, employee may

  1. Stand/Walk 5-6 Hours
  2. Drive 1-2 Hours
  3. Sit 3-4 Hours
  4. Stoop/Squat/Bend 1-2 Hours
  5. Lift/Carry 1-2 Hours      Up to a weight of     50 lbs
  6. Climb Stairs Occasionally
  7. Use hands for repetitive motions Frequently
  8. Use feet for repetitive movements Frequently
