Coquille School District has the following opening:

 

            POSITION: Teacher – Advanced Mathematics, .50 FTE at Winter Lakes School

 

            Salary Range: $19,140 to $35,456 based on .50 FTE of the 2018-2019 salary schedule

 

Qualifications: Candidates should have experience with assessing students and using multiple instructional strategies. Bilingual candidates and candidates experienced in working with bilingual students and families strongly encouraged to apply.

                                                               JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Job Title:        Teacher                          Assignment: Advanced Mathematics

 

Reports to:     Principal   

      

Evaluated by:   Principal

 

  1. Position Overview: Instruction of students shall include skill development, the expansion of knowledge and developing the ability to reason. Responsibilities include supervision, guidance, discipline, and safety of students. The use of independent judgment and decision making is required in many matters not having established rules, regulations, policies or precedent. Instruction includes multiple grade levels and the ability to differentiate curriculum. Frequent communication with parents is a must.

 Essential Job Functions:

  1. Identifies the needs of individual students by continuous assessment of their performance and abilities.
  2. Uses identified student needs to plan instruction.
  3. Individualizes instruction.
  4. Uses a variety of appropriate methods and materials to implement instruction.
  5. Organizes and manages classroom to create the optimum learning conditions.
  6. Works collaboratively with other staff.
  7. Applies learning theories to meet the needs of students.
  8. Evaluates and reports student progress.
  9. Supervises students in and out of the classroom.
  10. Initiates, plans, and carries out parent conferences/communications.
  11. Initiates and maintains communication with parents and colleagues.
  12. Plans and coordinates additional activities.
  13. Other duties as assigned

 Other Job Functions:

  1. Participates in in-service and professional development activities.
  2. Assists in the assessment of building level needs and the planning required to meet those needs.
  3. Collaborates in on-going professional development.
  4. Sets and carries out goals each year.

 Qualifications:

  1. Knowledge of:
  2. Current concepts, methods, and procedures of curriculum development and implementation.
  3. Laws, rules, policies, and trends regarding instruction
  • Evaluation techniques.
  1. Standards based education.
  2. Human development and learning.
  3. Behavior management techniques.
  • Communication techniques.
  • Current health and safety procedures and practices.

 

  1. Ability to:
  2. Develop appropriate curriculum.
  3. Interpret and comply with laws, rules, and policies.
  • Evaluate student needs and progress.
  1. Implement accepted principles of instruction.
  2. Maintain acceptable student behavior and discipline.
  3. Communicate effectively.
  • Maintain regular attendance.
  • Maintain confidentiality

 Experience:

  1. Demonstrated competency through college preparation, student teaching, and/or classroom experience, and professional development.

 License:

  1. Current Oregon license with appropriate endorsement in area of assignment
  2. Current ODL.

 Physical Requirements:

In an eight-hour day, employee may

  1. Stand/Walk 7-8 Hours
  2. Drive 1-2 Hours
  3. Sit 1-2 Hours
  4. Stoop/Squat/Bend 1-2 Hours
  5. Lift/Carry 1-2 Hours      Up to a weight of     Over 50 lbs
  6. Climb Stairs Frequently
  7. Use hands for repetitive motions Frequently
  8. Use feet for repetitive movements Occasionally
